Angel Moroni Raising
Many of us driving through Gilbert have watched the LDS Temple being constructed over the last year. With a groundbreaking in November 2010, it has been impressive to watch the construction taking place. Anyone driving through the area Tuesday however, was able to witness a milestone for this site and the Mormon community.
On May 15, 2012, hundreds gathered to the Gilbert Arizona Temple to witness the raising of the gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue atop the single spire.
The gold statues are customary on most temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, which represent an ancient prophet from the Book of Mormon and symbolizes the preaching of the gospel.
The 400-pound statue shows Moroni with a horn held by his right hand pressed to his lips and is made of fiberglass, covered in gold leaf.

Dan and Susan, moved to San Tan Valley a couple years ago from Illinois. They knew that they wanted to start a business out here, but finding the right place was a bit of a challenge.
They looked up in the East Valley initially, but both decided that if they could find something here, locally, it would be easier for them as they would always be just down the road if they were needed.
They looked at a location near the Walmart at Hunt and Gary; but never got a call back. They looked at the new center across the street from Walmart, but size was an issue. Then they spoke with the new owners of the Shops at Copper Basin (2510 E Hunt Hwy Suite #22). After only a few conversations, the owners flew out from Texas to meet Dan and Susan and within a few months, Lavelle's Deli and Ice Cream was ready to open to the public.
