In January 2009, then-Governor Janet Napolitano resigned after being selected as Secretary of Homeland Security in and Jan Brewer became the Governor of Arizona.  In January 2009, San Tan Valley, AZ did not exist.  We've come along way baby!

Yesterday, February 1st, 2012, as part of Arizona's Centennial celebration, Governor Jan Brewer, the highest elected official in Arizona, traveled out to San Tan Valley, AZ and spoke to a crowd of over 1800 students and hundreds more from the community, at Poston Butte High School.

Brewer swore in new Pinal County Sheriff Deputies and Detention Officers and thanked Sheriff Babeu for the new badge that he has all of his deputies now wearing for the next year, in honor of Arizona's 100 years.

During the ceremony, Brewer also watched on as the Pinal County Sheriff's Office gave a $5,000 check (from RICO funds) to the Poston Butte High School Seniors to use for their graduation celebration. Principal Dr Pappalardo let us all know that the Senior class has decided to use the funds to take a one night trip to Disneyland.
